Receptionist

We are looking for:

Optical Receptionist

Job Overview

Position: Part-Time Optical Receptionist – 3 days per week with flexibility to cover 5 days per week.
Role Type: Front of house and administrative support
Core Purpose: To provide a warm welcome to patients, keep the appointment diary organized and support the smooth daily flow of the optical practice.

Key Responsibilities

Reception & Customer Care: Greet patients warmly upon arrival, manage a multi-line phone system, and respond to email or web enquiries.
Appointment Scheduling: Book, amend, and confirm patient appointments using the practice management system.
Patient Administration: Register new patients, update records, and handle patient forms or private/NHS eligibility checks.
Clinical Handover: Coordinate patient flow and hand patients smoothly over to the optometrists.
Practice Support: Keep the reception and waiting area tidy, handle basic cash or card payments and prepare consulting rooms as needed.

Requirements & Skills

Communication: Clear, friendly and polite phone manner and strong face-to-face interpersonal skills.
IT Literacy: Comfortable using computers, booking software, and digital databases.
Organization: Ability to multitask in a busy environment with high attention to detail.
Experience: Previous reception or customer service experience is preferred.

Salary

Commensurate with experience.
