There is much more to eye examinations than just having a “sight test” and buying a new pair of spectacles or contact lenses.

During your eye exam, our highly qualified optometrists will:
Carry out a thorough investigation of your vision to determine the strength of lenses you require.
We also check all 12 eye muscles to make sure they work together.
Check the overall health of your eyes using a microscope.
We can screen for dry eyes and make a recommendation on its management.
Check the eye pressure. We often use our hand held tonometer – it is fast, accurate and there are no puffs of air!
We use our new Topcon Triton OCT to look at the health of the optic nerve and the macula (centre of the eye).
This hospital grade equipment scans the back of the eye 100,000 times a second, to generate a 3D cross-section of the retina, similar to ultrasound.

Our fees for private eye examinations reflect the quality of eye care we deliver. We encourage our NHS patients to pay the additional fee that extends the NHS sight test to the comprehensive eye examination which includes the new highly advanced 3D OCT retinal scan & Nikon Optos Widefield Retinal photo currently not included in the NHS sight test.
