Our Story

Hynes Optometrists was established by Colin and Joy Hynes in 1982. Starting out as a house practice it moved to its present location in 1993.

We pride ourselves on offering high quality eye care and excellent service in a friendly and relaxed environment.

Using the latest equipment and techniques we carry out a thorough investigation of your vision, examine your eyes for any possible health problems and offer you the best advice to meet your visual requirements.

Our Dispensing Opticians are professionally qualified, and we are committed to ongoing training of our support staff. Our Optometrists undertake a continuous education programme and attend relevant exhibitions and seminars to remain informed of all the latest developments that take place in our field.

We have a large range of designer and bespoke frames and some great budget frames too. As independent optometrists we have an unlimited choice of spectacle lenses and will provide lenses specific to your visual requirements.

I recently had my first eye examination with Hynes and I am beyond pleased with the service. As soon as I entered I was greeted by friendly and welcoming staff. Asif (the optometrist) took the time to explain each step of the examination, not only making me feel safe but also ensuring that I understood the purpose and significance of each test and it’s results. 5/5, would recommend.

I paid a visit to Hynes, to get my eyes tested, following a couple of positive recommendations from friends. Having not had my eyes looked at for over 20 years I didn't know what to expect, but I was very pleasantly surprised. The facilities are immaculate, the equipment was cutting edge, and the entire team were so professional yet friendly. I was really impressed at the level of service and learnt so much about my own eyes in the process. I couldn't recommend them more highly.

I am so grateful that a friend referred me to this practice a year ago when I moved from Australia. Asif has been terrific and thorough with all his amazing equipment! Both of my visits have been great and the staff always courteous, friendly and Pauline terrific at helping me select new glasses and also sunglasses.
